As everyone knows, presidential candidate Donny Trump said something about grabbing a chick by the pussy last week and when asked about it, he said it was just “locker room talk.”  Since then, athletes have been coming out saying “I don’t know what locker room Trump has been in, but we never talk like that in the locker room.”  In fact, LeBron James came out today and said the following:

“What is locker room talk to me? It’s not what that guy said. We don’t disrespect women in no shape or fashion in our locker room. That never comes up. Obviously, I got a mother-in-law, a wife, a mom and a daughter and those conversations just don’t go on in our locker room. What goes on in our locker room is sporting events that happened the night before, about family, about strategies that we may have that night, about a highlight that made it happen— if it was a home run in the bottom of the ninth or it was an alley-oop dunk from a player the night before— that’s what happens in our locker room. What that guy was saying, I don’t know what that is. That’s trash talk.”

Can we all just take a step back and fucking chill out?  I get that people don’t like Trump (myself included).  I get that some of the most famous people in the United States want to distance themselves from Trump.  But give me a goddamn break.  We don’t disrespect women in the locker room?  What fucking locker rooms have you been in?

Guys say shit.  They talk about tits and ass and red meat and farts and beer.  You know, guy stuff.  My friends have said some really really fucked up things in the company of other dudes and you know what?  That’s okay.  Nobody goes around telling anybody what is said because it’s understood that sometimes, us men say some really fucked up shit.  There’s no reason to go air somebody out for all of the fucked up things they’ve said.  If somebody did that to me, I’d be jobless.

Look, should a potential presidential candidate be saying things like “grab her by the pussy”?  Probably not.  But every guy in the world doesn’t have to go out of their way to say they’ve never said a fucked up thing about a girl before in the company of other guys.

And another thing.  I think when Trump said “locker room talk” he was referring to dudes talking, not necessarily literally locker room talk.  Yes, LeBron, in the locker room before games you are probably going over game tape and strategies.  After the game you are probably debriefing.  But I bet Jim down at Planet Fitness goes into the locker room and tells his bud Paul about the ass on the girl on the treadmill next to him.

Again, I am not defending Trump.  A guy that could be running the United States probably should be more careful about what he says.  All I’m saying is that we don’t have to deny everything to no end and plead ignorance.  Trump’s done it, LeBron’s done it, I’ve done it, everyone has done it.  Relax.
