The New York Knicks’ dumpster fire of a franchise got a whole lot of gasoline poured over it this week with the kicking out  of Charles Oakley, the all-time Knicks legend, from Madison Square Garden on Wedneday.

And the reaction from fans, opponents, basically everyone seems to be the same: FREE OAKLEY!!!

Last night, at a Ranger’s game, IN MADISON SQUARE GARDEN (James Dolan’s home basically) – the fans offered their support with a “CHAR-LES OAK-LEY” chant…

And evidently security came to kick out the leader of the chants, but backed off quickly as New York’s finest fans backed that savage.

There was plenty of backing up Oakley around the NBA too. Former Knick JR Smith hashtagging #OnceAKnickAlwaysAKnick?

LeBron also concluded his interview, following the Cavs’ loss to Oklahoma City last night, with a “Charles Oakley for President” – which was awesome. Props Bron, I don’t like you but that was awesome.

Another supporter was Dwayne Wade with a classy post on his Instagram:

It is absolutely clear, from writers like me to superstars like LeBron & D-Wade, that Oakley was disrespected to the Nth degree and that is trash. James Dolan needs to man up and fix this. Not silence fans at A RANGERS GAME in your stadium. Just be a man and fix this feud with Oak.

Now to end, my favorite video of this entire fiasco so far… Bleacher Report with the Matrix rendition of the event:
