In a surprising turn of events, the same Sacramento Kings team (that less than two week ago said they won’t trade Demarcus Cousins) have agreed to send the former Kentucky superstar to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, as well as a 1st AND 2nd round pick in the 2017 draft… Wait, WHAT?!
I always figured the Kings had to trade Boogie. He wasn’t going to re-sign with them it seemed, so they might as well get SOMETHING in return. Well this isn’t SOMETHING. This is a lot.
Buddy Hield, though he’s had a rough outing in his rookie year, was the best player in college basketball last year at Oklahoma – a total STUD; Tyreke Evans played in Sacramento before and was Rookie of the Year for them in 2009; Langston Galloway is a REALLY nice player (I do miss him in blue & orange); and two more picks in the draft?
I heard ESPN call this a “home run” for New Orleans… WHAT?! I see this as pure unadulterated trade rape. Why New Orleans did this is beyond me. Feel free to set me straight, but they traded for what could be a rental for the rest of the year in Demarcus Cousins… and then what?! This potentially could go down in history as one of the worst trades for the Pelicans.
Boogie Time in the Big Easy?
