Well, let’s get a little historical for a second. Benjamin Franklin, in 1784 said that he could optimize candle usage by getting out of bed earlier and utilizing the sunlight a little more. Well, 233 years later, we’re still doing that for some reason (unless of course you’re Arizona and don’t participate in Daylight Savings). Basically it was created so farmers could get more work done in a day. But now, with modern farming techniques, it’s not really worth it any more.
The whole “Fall Back, Spring Forward” thing is BS! There is nothing worse than waking up on the morning of Daylight Savings in the Spring and realizing that you lost an hour. HOWEVER, there is a huuuuuuge plus for the Daylight Savings in the Fall. When the clock strikes 2:00 AM, and you’re out at the bar, it turns back and you get another hour to booze it up… FIRE!
Regardless, I think that the whole concept should be abolished, no need for this whole changing times thing. And if someone has real evidence showing why this thing is still a good idea, please tell me, I’d love to hear it.
