Tomorrow, April 2nd, the MLB returns. At 1:00pm on ESPN, we’ll watch the Yankees start off their 2017 campaign against the Rays down in Tampa.

I feel like it was just yesterday Frank and I were getting tickets to Opening Day at Yankees Stadium last year… The REAL opening day had gotten rained out, so we sniped some Tuesday tickets for about $20 and made the decision 30 minutes before the opening pitch to drive into the Bronx.

I know the hopes for that Yankees team weren’t too high, and my hopes for this year truthfully aren’t like “we need a title THIS year” or anything. I’m excited to see how quite a few of these young players have, and will continue to, progress honestly.

Will Gary Sanchez hit 90 home runs? How will Greg Bird bounce back from the torn labrum that held him out of all 2016? How will Ronald Torreyes do filling in until Didi is back? Can Aaron Judge be the next big thing? Actually, that’s bad wording… He’s already HUGE (6’7″, 282 lbs), but can that translate to big things on the field?

We know the starting pitching staff, and maybe middle relievers, just need to take the lead through 7 before Betances and Chapman will finish games off… But beyond Tanaka, we’re still left with a lot of question marks… CC? Pineda? Severino?

This team may go through a lot of the same bumps and bruises it did last year, but the youth movement is in full force and we are going to see some exciting games this year.
