We miss Sky Blue and they miss us. The “Bad Boys of Media” have missed your girls’ last two home games in a row, and boy does it show. The defense has been lackadaisical, the offense hasn’t been themselves and now SBFC find themselves in fourth place.

Let’s go through the last couple games to catch everyone up to speed on their favorite NWSL team…

Sky Blue v. Orlando Pride

Marta

2-1. Now we walked away with a win this game but at times the girls were a bit pedestrian out there. Marta “the Brazilian Destroyer” took our back line down a notch (or six) for Orlando’s goal. Praise to the old gods and the new for Sam Kerr, otherwise this game was easily lost. Quality play between the midfield gave Kerr the opportunity to execute her job to equalize late in the first half. The game winner came late as a direct long ball floated behind Orlando’s back line for the homegrown Hayes to secure us three points.

Sky Blue v. Portland Thorns FC

portland thorns

0-2. Shutout at home, that is the WORST possible scenario. We fell asleep in the back and got roasted by Horan, TWICE!!!!! Yea, she turned the defense around like they were salsa dancing. As if things weren’t bad enough, Killion had a penalty saved. I take personal responsibility for this one. Last interview, I complimented how well she took them and how clinical she was. Classic curse of the commentator (or interviewer). My bad team, this one’s on me; Sarah don’t worry I got your back.

LOOKING AHEAD:

Portland (Away): I would be happy with a tie after how we looked last week. Bring some points back to Jersey.

Chicago Red Stars (Home): I don’t know about you but, Red Star sounds a lot like Communism to me. Not in my house.
