We’ve all “heard it through the grapevine” that the Melo deal to Houston is done, but it won’t be finalized until Chris Paul gets announced tomorrow afternoon… No word on the particulars.
Here is honestly what I am picturing…
- Houston receives Melo;
- Some rebuild shit team (think Brooklyn) takes on Ryan Anderson’s contract;
- That rebuild team sends an expensive aging vet that could be role a player on the right team to a pseudo contender that thinks that’s what they need (think DeMarre Carroll from Brooklyn);
- That pseudo contender dupes the Knicks… and New York get a 2nd rounder and Quincy Acy/Ronny Turiaf (somehow), assuming they’re on terrible like 3-year $20/year contracts, in return… Oh, and the Nets get a 2nd Rounder from like Houston or something.
Whatever the Knicks end up getting, I want to remind everyone of what had to be given up in order to get Melo in the first place… You ready?
Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mozgov, Eddy Curry (thank God) and Anthony Randolph… Oh, and our 2014 first round pick, as well as second rounders in 2012 and 2013… AND CASH.
So to say I am expecting the worst is a bit of an understatement.
