This year, July 22 marks the first of what promises to be many, many more Water Cooler Sports Open’s.
Hoboken’s Alexander Constantino, who prides himself on his exceptional play – but even more so his exception look, is set to tee off at 10:30am EST along with teammates Matthew Opremcak (Princeton, NJ) and Jack Fletcher (Syracuse, NY). Fletcher, an avid golfer from upstate, is looking to “make it rain” (pun very much intended as Syracuse is
depressingly such a rainy city) on his trip to the deep south.
If they are looking for a team to really challenge them for the #1 seed, they need not look too far as Mitch Hillegas (Chenango Valley, NY) & Connor Mahoney (Athol, MA) will be pushing them the whole way, starting at their tee time of 10:30am. They’ve added some strong depth like former D-II athlete Adam Thorne (Chenango Valley, NY) and definitely show promise in this inaugural WCS Open. There have been rumors that their 4th player could potentially be Jimbo Slice already a champion this calendar year at a Water Cooler Sports sponsored event, BeerFest, in April.
Other notable foursome tee off times:
10:30am – Michael Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Jeffrey Ayres & Jackie Tedino.
10:30am* – Gordie Miczak, Pat Miczak, Tim Perrotta & Owen Parr.
10:30am – Kevin Cregan, CJ Carey, Adam Vandelinder & Tim Taylor.
Some other big name golfers that tee off at 10:30am – Tommy Ryan, Andy Coyle, Cam Montour, Erik Lambe, Brendan Chin, Jack Paeglow, Dylan Carroll, Ben Bible, Justin Reyes, Timmy Drakeley, Jack Taylor, Glen Taylor, Dave Eucker, Slick Willy, Matt Howard, and Johnny Pasta Sauce.
(Spoiler Alert: It’s a modified shotgun start. So everyone will tee off at the same time basically at 10:30)
Live coverage for the Water Cooler Sports Open will be available through Instagram Live, Facebook Live & SnapChat (username: w-csports) – hosted by ‘Rrell, Taylor & Boza… Because those who can’t golf, cover golf
and drink beers.
Live scoring will be impossible, but assuredly the award ceremony will be up on Facebook, as that is sure to be #LIT…
The Open is scored as Captain & Crew (a best ball format). This will ensure a really solid pace of play, and allow teams with one strong golfer to really ride one guy’s (or girl’s) coattails… Because that is what America is all about!
Best Overall Team will bring home the cup #ItsAllAboutTheCup.
(Actually, it’s not ALL about the cup… this is a Movember Charity and if anyone else wants to get in on this – you can donate here to “Make Mustaches Great Again” the official Movember group of Water Cooler Sports… And that money will go straight to kicking cancer right in its ass)
Oh, and the open field is set at 40 players.
Best of Luck Everyone,
* = Worth noting that this team is traveling the least combined distance and therefore should be least jetlagged when it comes to gameday. Also, our golf insider “Tayls” has informed me they may be legitimately the best team in the field… If you’re gambling, keep an eye out for these guys.
