The other day I tweeted out that Peanut Butter/Banana is a top 5 flavor combination and the response (in my brain) was overwhelming. It led me to ponder what the other four flavor combinations would be and after some deep reflection, I think I’ve got it. I tried to not repeat any single flavor because obviously pretty much anything mixed with peanut butter or chocolate is delicious (chocolate peanut butter, chocolate/nutella, peanut butter/jelly, caramel/chocolate, peanut butter/peanut butter, etc). In addition, I do have them ranked, but it is fluid–everything in moderation, folks.

5. Sour Cream and Onion

This one is holding at 5 because in all honesty, there is really only one place where you have this combo and it is in chips. That being said, if you put a bag of Lay’s Sour Cream and Onion chips in front of me, I don’t think I can stop. They sometimes get all fancy with us and go Sour Cream and Chive for the kettle cooked, but you can’t fool the tongue. Not really something I’d like to ever try in real life (I’m not a huge sour cream guy) but the artificial flavor of it is king in the chips world.

4. Root Beer and Pretzels

I bet you didn’t expect to see this on the list. I know it sounds super weird, but just trust me on it. In high school, we would all hang out in my friend’s basement and his mom just had endless soda and snacks for us. Root beer is definitely in my top soda flavors and at one point, I was drinking it while eating pretzels and magic happened. And I wasn’t the only one–the guy whose basement we were in also took a liking to the combination and I think it is wildly underrate. Try it for me one time.

3. Orange/Vanilla

A solid pick here at number 3. There is just nothing better on a hot summer day than a creamsicle. It is light and very refreshing. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of going to a Cookout in the VA/NC area, you can get a milkshake with like unlimited flavor combinations and if I’m ever in doubt of what to get, I’ll go for the orange/vanilla combo. There is also an Orange Vanilla seltzer made by Polar which is straight fire.

2. Peanut Butter/Banana

The combo that launched a thousand ships/one blog. I’ve always been a HUGE peanut butter guy. If you put PB on something, I think it always tastes better. Ketch put me on to mixing in a scoop of PB with a banana Chobani and it changed the yogurt game forever. Similarly, I’ve been hitting the gym to get #swole and have found a delicious banana protein shake to which I mix in a scoop of peanut butter and it is honestly the highlight of my day. Just a steady, reliable flavor combo that will stand the test of time.

1. Chocolate/Mint

I think this one is going to be controversial as I know there are people who can’t stand chocolate and mint. But let’s be honest, it is the GOAT when it comes to flavor combinations. Hell, Starbucks makes a mint (haha get it?) selling Peppermint Mocha Lattes around the holiday season. Junior Mints are a mainstay in the candy community. They’re chocolate, peppermint–delicious, very refreshing!

And to top it all off, your breath is fresh as a breeze afterwards–what more could you ask for? Chocolate/Mint until I die.

Honorable Mention: Lamb and Tuna Fish

I’ve never tried this one because personally I hate tuna fish but if it is anywhere near the chemistry that Sonny and Frankenstein have, it’s gotta be off the charts.

Alright that about wraps it up. Let me know what I missed on Twitter or in the comments.
