Back on April 7th, the Astros won on a walk-off against the Padres when Alex Bregman popped up in front of the mound and Eric Hosmer over ran the ball.

(Bregman’s walk off is at 1:15)

It was one of the most little league-ish ways to win a baseball game.  Well last night, Bregman and the Astros were at it again with this walk off win.

(Walk off at 1:50)

Are you kidding me?  Between those two walk offs, Bregman hit the ball a total of, I don’t know 18 feet?  And the combined exit velo was maybe 43 mph.

Crazy thing too in both games is that who it was that fucked up on the other side of each walk off.  In the first one, you had Eric Hosmer who’s a perennial All-Star and gold glover.  This game, you got Lucroy who’s been one of the better catchers in the game over the last 5 years or so.  Now it looked like that ball had a lot of English on it so it’s tough to give him too much shit for dropping the ball initially. And as far as the throw goes, it was like, right there.  I’m not really sure what happened there.  Mark Cahna was moved to first base after a substitution and has only played four games at first all year so maybe that had something to do with it?  It looked like he was a catcher and got crossed up.  Maybe Lucroy put a little two-seam run on it or something, but he got totally handcuffed.

The actual wildest thing is that Lucroy was the one charged with the error.  If Cahna was catching, that would have been a passed ball.  It literally hit him in the goddamn glove.  He looked like Smalls from The Sandlot trying to catch the ball.

But hey I guess when push comes to shove, you have to give credit to the Astros for finding a way to win.  Put the ball in play and good things happen.  That’s what I always say!
