Let me start this by saying, I am still more of a “KD’s not coming” truther than a dreamer.
Why? I lived through the summer of 2010.
I lived The Decision.
I lived the consolation prize that was Amare Stoudemire (who I embraced and loved with my whole heart and people who forget his great days in New York, I’m here – I dare you to @ me) while Miami went on to the Finals FOUR STRAIGHT YEARS.
This offseason already has hit us with a dose of reality… “Zion to New York” was what everyone was dreaming of, but the war on tanking (which I’m all for btw) killed that dream. The #3 pick, which is a GOOD spot given where we could have landed, was a reminder that dreams aren’t reality.
So looking at KD, I’m very skeptical… But alas, as
an idiot a Knicks fan, I’m always down to get my hopes up (even if I should have learned by now not to because it’s too painful).
Let’s connect some dots, shall we?
You may or may not already know this, but Kevin Durant is a part owner in The Player’s Tribune. Hmm, I wonder where the Player’s Tribune is located…
He also is invested in an investing company called Acorns… want to know where they’re located?
But those are old news, right? That Undefeated article about these two companies is from 2016, gimme some NEW news Tayls!
Uhh oh!! I’m seeing a trend!!
And then just last week, KD invests in a high-end headphone company called “Master & Dynamic“… You already know what’s coming next:
This is it.
If he is investing in all these NEW YORK CITY companies, wouldn’t it make sense for him to play 41 games a year here too instead of, oh, I don’t know, anywhere else?
This is it. This is the highest I’ve been on the “KD-to-New-York” bandwagon.
